With the sun rising in the sky, growing ever so close to sunhigh, Ashfeather sat at the edge of LittleClan territory; looking out over the red-colored trees before her. They swayed elegantly in the breeze, stealing her attention until the scent of rabbit wafted through her nose.
Her brilliant orange eyes wandered to her paws, where a dead hare lay sprawled. It's body was dusty was broken, with patches of hair missing or trailing the rocky cliff behind her. The she-cat had meant to catch it soundly, but the frightened rodent stopped too late, and couldn't manage to turn the corner soon enough.
The fall wasn't a large one--a kit of a few moons could probably have survived it--but the rabbit had broken a leg and stood no chance when Ashfeather pounced down to take it's life. It had no where to go, on the small island below the cliff; cropped by the river that divided RedClan and LittleClan.
The ash-colored tabby sniffed, blinking her amber eyes before taking the rabbit back into her jaws.

A lean, golden cat wound her way through the spires and turrets of stone and solidified mud. Her large paws made no sound as they instinctively felt for the safest paw-steps and drew her closer to the young warrior with her kill down farther. Let's see RedClan cats try and climb this! she thought with a small ripple of amusement.
Brightstar gave a small leap and landed a mouse-length or two away from Ashfeather. The leader dipped her head in greeting and meowed appreciatively, "That was a nice catch, Ashfeather. Superb." Her molten eyes swept over the rabbit with pleasure; her warriors were strong, that's what every Clan leader wants.
She averted her gaze to the expanse of red trees and her topaz eyes reflected vermilion. Brightstar sighed; if only she hadn't had her apprentice hunt at the river that day and she had one more life and maybe they could get more land... It would be nice to hunt in the shade and shelter... Don't think like that, she thought. A leader wouldn't risk her Clan's lives.

Ashfeather was nearly ready to navigate the rocks once more when a golden she-cat found her first. The silvery tabby was a bit surprised--her widened orange eyes showing it quite clearly--but she dipped her muzzle in a sweet hello anyway. She gingerly put the rabbit back down to reply, "Thank you, Brighstar. Though, it's a good thing rabbits have heather for brains... He fell off the ledge and broke his leg." She proded the brown-furred rodent with a paw.
She lifted her eyes to follow her leader's, that landed on the blood-colored canopy of RedClan. The grey she-cat had nothing in mind to say, but her thoughts were alive with what Brighstar may have been thinking. Asfeather swallowed--the stale taste of rabbit fur on her tongue.
"Would you like to finish this hunt with me? I would be glad for the company." Ashfeather stiffened for Brighstar's reply.
