Though the leader sleeps under a ledge, the medicine cat sleeps on one. Their herbs and whatnot are gathered near the wall, in cracks and holes to protect against the savagery of troublesome kits.

Toward the front of the cave, where the cavern is open to the sun, lay the elders. The ground is rather flat and rocky here, but he stones are always warm. When bad weather strikes, the elders move back to the back of the cave, with the warriors, to share their soft bedding.

Far back in the cave, where the passage grows too smile for large cats (but kits could easily slip through) are the warrior's nests. The ground is hollow here, good for placing bundles of feathers and moss for beds. Warriors are set here to keep a close eye on the nursery, on the other side of the cave, to make sure kits don't go blundering beyond the campsite.

The apprentices sleep under the overhang that the medicine cat uses. Because, just a little ways off, are the elders, ready to be tended to if need be. (Apprentices aren't permitted to go rummaging through the medicine cat's supplies, unless to do so strictly by the medicine cats themselves.)
