The clearing was as bright as ever, sparkled in beady stars, with a cloudless sky. The moon was large, like a lake in the sky, and cast the swath of tree-barren land into a silver glow. It really was a sight to behold. ...every tree, every plant, seemed to be made of tiny stars, and the breath of one thousand cats was hot on the wind.
A gentle breeze tickled the apprentice's starry coat; brushing through her long tortoiseshell fur. She padded through the small clearing, to the other side where a tiny, babbling brook swam over the ground. The sweet scent of the refreshing water wooed her closer, until she was at the shore, peering down into the living world below.
She sighed. Life was endless in the sky, but it was not the same as life itself. She could still breath, and talk, and love, but she did not live quite the same as a clan cat anymore. Hollypaw did not train to become a warrior, she did not hunt with her friends; she did not battle over land, or physically become hurt.
That life was far beyond.
It had been many, many, moons since she left her clan. And everyday she came here to watch LittleClan--and the others--prosper as they did.
Her deep golden eyes peered down, spying on the living world.

Soft paw steps barely made a sound as the star-made blades of grass as a pale gold-pelted she-cat made her way to the spying apprentice. She sat across from the younger she-cat and her deep eyes stared down to where the former LittleClan apprentice's gaze was headed.
She saw many things at once, and pulled out of the view calmly, though quickly. The former CloudClan warrior still wasn't used to it, even after many moons of padding around; brooding... watching... waiting...
"Has anything happened to Duskflyer?" she asked herself and Hollypaw softly, seeing a glimps of her brother's fur and purred as she saw he was hunting a rather speedy squirrel. Noonracer looked a bit more cheery and meowed to Hollypaw;
"What was it like in LittleClan when you were there?" She had always had a thirst for more knowledge, Noonracer did. And ever since she had arrived above to StarClan after saving her brother, the young she-cat in appearance, but not in soul, had asked most of the cats from her time and shortly before it what it had been like alive in their respected Clans.

Hollypaw looked up as the young warrior approached, a sweet smile flitting across her lips at Noonracer's sweet scent. A purr rose up in the tortoiseshell's throat, and she turned back to glance into the star-lit stream. There were so many cats to watch, so many futures to see...Hollypaw wanted to see them all. She blinked and tore her thoughts from the clans, placing them back onto the she-cat beside her.
"Nothing bad," she meowed, "He's a fabulous hunter; I bet he'll be picking the fur from that squirrel out of his mouth for ages!" Hollypaw flicked her tail out of amusement; looking back up at the former CloudClan warrior. Her eyes were squinted, and the purr that rolled from her chest was as strong as ever.
LittleClan...the way she remembered it. The memories that swam back to her. Hollypaw breathed, composing herself as the merry purr dispersed; but her cheerful tone was not misplaced. "It was rough," the apprentice replied, "Poppystar was a pretty vicious she-cat. She thought more of her clan than she did herself, but she pushed us all to get what she said was best. I think that's what pushed CloudClan into attacking that day, when I died."
She blinked, and placed her deep golden eyes back on the stream. She watched curiously as LittleClan warriors brought back fresh-kill, and placed it neatly in a pile...

Noonracer nodded, a purr rising from her throat at the thought of her brother complaining to all about the hairy squirrel. Her ears swivelled back in slight apology for her Clan's actions that day.
"I am sorry about that; but I couldn't have prevented it; it was moons after I had passed." A slight bitter edge was in her normally level voice, but then she gave the former apprentice a small smile.
"LittleClan is doing well. Do you aprove of Brightstar?" Noonracer now was immensely curious. She, herself, hadn't really minded Meadowstar. A vision if the bright gold-pelted leader swam into view and Noonracer stared at it before looking away suddenly. She wasn't too sure if Brightstar would be the best choice; she seemed like another Poppystar in fact in ambition.

"I know, but it's okay. I don't think there was much anyone could have done anyway, we weren't expecting it." Hollypaw meowed, twitching her whiskers in thought. It happened so long ago, she hardly remembered the moment anymore... she was sure when she arrived in StarClan, that she would never forget what it felt like.
The tortoiseshell returned the friendly smile. She relieved her eyes of the babbling stream, and sat them on Noonracer. A light shrug fell over the apprentice's shoulders. "I don't think I would ever be able to get used to any other leader, if it weren't Poppystar." An amused purr rose up in her chest, before Hollypaw glanced down to study the brightly colored LittleClan leader.
"But, yes, I think she's doing well so far. Poppystar made a great choice, but I see her mumbling sometimes about how she's not sure." The she-cat straightened, and flicked her tail neatly over her paws. "I'm not sure how well she'll preserve LittleClan's initial...um...foundation, that might be Poppystar's worry. Well, what are you up to?"

Wildfur gazed at the land ahead of her. Back when she lived, she looked to the stars for guidance. Now, as a StarClan cat, she showed the destiny of the living through the stars.
Instead of seeing StarClan cats in dreams, she visited the medicine cats in dreams.
She didn't hate it, but it was different than what she had had. She missed feeling alive and vulnerable. Here, she could be hurt, but could never die. It felt boring, sometimes.
She gazed through the ground and watched the daily lives of the cats in StormClan....

Noonracer shrugged herself, filing away that tidbit of information Hollypaw had generously donated away in her ever-growing library. "Nothing, actually. Just... thinking..." The she-cat grinned. "I do that so much lately, I think my brother would be scared."
But then she frowned. "You know; when your mother and your mentors teach you about StarClan and they say that those who've passed on are 'hunting with StarClan', they were wrong." Noonracer gave a short laugh. "I don't see any prey, unless we're to become cannibals -- or it's for higher ranking cats and elders. I thought I had something to look forward to."
She shuffled her paws in embarassment. "Sorry, even after moons of ceaselessly talking, I never learned how to curb my tongue." Noonracer glanced up and noticed Wildfur, a previous medicine cat, stare almost glum-like into a pool of futures -- a pool of stars.
"Greetings, Wildfur!" she called softly, trying not to disturb the wandering dead. At least, not too much.

"That must be all we're granted, these days. Think, think, ponder, think, think. I guess death was supposed to be luxurious," the small tortoiseshell giggled, a smile taught on her lips. Afterall, what had she done? Think. Gossip. Nap... Wander about the starry fields and gaze into the endless sea of sky. Hollypaw blinked and tilted her head as Noonracer shuffled her paws.
The apprentice felt the need to purr at the warrior's reply, but the sight of another cat approaching seemed to keep it at bay. "What's to keep you from it? You're in StarClan now. Speak freely, because who's going to do what to you?" She winked and flicked the she-cat with her tail playfully.
Her eyes of a starry gold washed over the medicine cat, as she gazed into the ground. Hollypaw was curious as to what she was watching, but left her mouth tightly closed.

"Hello, Noonracer. How are you?" Wildfur meowed to the warrior. She, to, kept her voice quiet so as not to disturb the other StarClanners. She took one fleeting glance through the pool of stars and walked over to Noonracer. "Who's the apprentice sitting over there?" she asked Noonracer.

"Fine, Wildfur! Perfect--aside from the boredom Hollypaw and I've been discussing." Noonracer grinned and hoped Wildfur caught her subtle answer. "A very colorfully bland topic really. See what happens when you're stuck here for a while?" She laughed, not really thinking what she said was too amusing, but needing to lift her neutral spirits.
An idea suddenly flashed in her mind. "Oh! Wildfur! I asked you long ago what it was like in your old Clan, but I didn't ask you what it was like as a medicine cat! I haven't asked that one yet!" The warrior was ecitable as a kit now, oh how Duskflyer would be laughing, seeing his sister react like that to a simple question.
